If This Then That (IFTTT) is a web-based platform that allows you to create chains of simple commands (known as “recipes”) that are triggered when a specific action is made on a social network (e.g. posting content to Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter etc).
Most seasoned Social Media Marketers leverage the power of IFTTT to automate all sorts of time consuming tasks such as:
- auto-posting Instagram photos natively to Twitter (allowing you to actually see the Instagram photo natively on your Twitter feed with one click – as opposed to a nasty URL)
- auto-archiving any of your social content in Dropbox folders for future ease of access
- auto-syncing your Facebook Profile photo with your Twitter Profile photo whenever you update your photo
When time is arguably you’re most precious asset, IFTTT has got your back.
While IFTTT is great for automating basic commands and tasks, it falls short for those needing a more robust solution for data automation and integration.
It’s all g though, because our friends over at Zapier have our backs.
Zapier allows all of my different tools to easily connect with one another. For example, whenever I sell an online course via Thinkific, Zapier automatically creates an invoice in my accounting software (Xero) based on the sale information processed by my payment gateway (Stripe). This saves me HOURS of mundane time and effort I’d need to allocate to manually enter in all of those invoices.
Zapier works with thousands of different apps, from Trello to Mailchimp to Dropbox to Paypal. And the best part is, you don’t need to know a single thing about coding to use this awesome tool!

LG 34UC97 Cineview Curved Ultrawide LED Monitor:
After spending more than two years screensharing between my 15″ Macbook Pro and an embarrassingly inefficient Toshiba LCD, I decided it was time to upgrade my desktop swag.
As an Apple fan boy (yes I have sipped their Kool-Aid) my immediate first thought was to go with an Apple Cinema Display. Having used this Display for over a year and half (and loving it) when I was working at Digital Union, it seemed like the wise choice. However given its lack of 4K Resolution, its hectic price point and in lieu of Apple realising a 5K Cinema Display (they clearly have the technology ready), I decided to give an Ultra Wide monitor a go.
After doing a LOT of research, I ended up going with LG’s 34UC97 Cineview Curved Ultrawide LED Monitor and I have not had one single regret since.
It’s 3440 x 1440 Curved Display makes working with multiple windows (I run three side by side most of the time) a very streamlined and efficient experience (I use BetterSnapTool for auto resizing of windows).
The resolution is also crystal clear and it’s aesthetics as a desk piece rival that of any Apple device IMO. It was also one of the very few high end displays that was compatible with my Mid 2012 MacBook Pro – which was a big bonus given I was considering upgrading my MacBook at one point.
Connection via Thunderbolt 2 provides a zero latency experience with no refresh issues. The Thunderbolt 2 connection also allows you to play music through the display’s inbuilt speakers (not the best to be honest, but I didn’t buy it for its speakers haha) whilst simultaneously running 2 USB 3.0 ports (I must admit these USB ports are a sweet feature but are in a very inconvenient place at the back of the monitor).
