I still remember how daunting it felt when I decided to build my first set of conversion funnels.

I knew how important conversion funnels would be to my business, and I knew I needed to have them set up yesterday…

However, I had no idea what kind of tools I needed to use. And I had so many questions…

Which tools were the best?

Which tools did I REALLY need?

Are the tools worth paying for… Or should I just try and do it all by myself to save money?

Like you, I know I needed to get started with my conversion funnels yesterday, but I didn’t want to just waste money on tools that don’t work the way I need them to.

That’s why I wish I was reading this article when I first got started with conversion funnels.

Below you’ll find the exact tools you’ll need to jump straight in and build you very first set of conversion funnels… without wasting weeks of time and hundreds of dollars on tools that simply don’t work.

11 Tools for Conversion Funnels

All of the tools I’ve listed below are awesome in their own right. However, if you’re looking to get started with the essentials and build from there, I recommend the following:

For those of you still reading, I’ve broken down the list below into 6 categories: Design Tools, Traffic Generation Tools, Landing Page Tools, Lead Generation Tools, Email Marketing Tools and Tools For Automation. I really hope you find these tools as useful as I have for building conversion funnels.

Tools For Designing Ads & Content:

#1 – Canva.com

Without the right images to compliment your copy,  you can kiss your digital marketing success goodbye.

“But I’m not a designer!”

Yep, neither am I. And that’s why I LOVE Canva. Canva makes it easy for anyone (even the aesthetically challenged – like me) to design high quality graphics for their ads and websites. If your graphics are currently letting you down, and you can’t afford a designer, then this is the tool for you.

#2 – Pexels.com

Playing by the rules and not stealing people’s images for your content can get very expensive, very fast. And if you’re like me, paying for high-quality stock photos is just another expense you can’t afford to add to your existing overheads.

That’s why I love Pexels.com – a free to use, stock photo website with hundreds of high-quality, royalty free stock photos you can use in any way, shape or form!

Tools For Traffic Generation:

#3 – Facebook Power Editor

Anyone who has used Facebook’s Ads Manager platform to create Facebook & Instagram Ads before knows how inefficient and time-consuming it can be. That’s why I always use Facebook Power Editor. This Google Chrome based tool allows you to create, duplicate and edit Campaigns, Ad Sets and Ads in bulk – saving you time, effort and stress so you can move on and focus on your next task.

#4 – AdEspresso.com

Split testing your Ad Sets and Ads is an essential part of any successful Facebook Campaign. The trouble is, creating, managing and optimising your split testing can be very time-consuming, even when you are using Facebook’s Power Editor.

This is exactly why I use AdEspresso. This powerful tool allows Facebook Advertisers to easily and effortlessly create multivariate, split test campaigns for their Facebook Ad Sets and Ads. It also automatically optimises your campaigns for you to ensure you are getting the best return on your ad spend, no matter what – this means, decreased CPC’s, CPA’s and ultimately, increased sales.

#5 – MeetEdgar.com

For those of you who swear by Hootsuite for your social media scheduling, I’d like you to MeetEdgar. Edgar is a must-use tool for any digital marketer who is serious about saving time and automating their content delivery to their audience.

Unlike Hootsuite’s schedule, publish and disappear content functionality, Edgar stores all of your scheduled updates in a category-based library, where they remain even after they’ve been posted once. This means you can automatically repost and reschedule past updates without having to manually schedule them again! In a world where attention and time are everything, Edgar has got your back.

Tools For Landing Pages & Websites:

#6 – Leadpages.com

Landing pages are one of the first points of entry for any digital conversion funnel. As such they play a crucial role in the ultimate success of everything you do online. When it comes to creating and installing landing pages, Leadpages is one of the quickest and easiest to use platforms I’ve ever come across. And the best part is, you don’t need to know a single thing about coding or design to use this awesome plug and play platform.

Leadpages is also one of the most competitively priced landing page solutions currently available, with plans starting from as little as $25 per month. They also offer a 30 day money-back guarantee, just in case you get cold feet and change your mind!

#7 – Themeforest.com

Themeforest is perfect for those looking for something a little more advanced and customisable than Leadpages. With 1000’s of website templates and landing pages to choose from, Themeforest has got your back.

Tools For Lead Generation:

#8 – SumoMe.com

SumoMe is a MUST install tool for any marketer looking to increase their website’s lead generation. With tools like ‘Welcome Mat,’ ‘List Builder,’ ‘Heat Maps,’ and ‘Smart Bar,’ marketers can easily 10x their website’s lead generation in a matter of minutes. Not to mention, you can access all of SumoMe’s awesome tools for free!

Tools For Email Marketing:

#9 – ConvertKit

I used to use Mailchimp for my email marketing, however I abandoned it after a few months of stressful frustration. Whilst I found Mailchimp was very good for sending email blasts and building subscribers, I did find it very counterintuitive when you wanted to do anything more advanced (such as automation for the purposes of an email funnel). Not to mention, whilst the basic features of Mailchimp are free, if you want to build an automated email funnel, you will have to upgrade to the paid plan which starts at $20.00 per month.

I now swear by an email marketing platform called ConvertKit; which has been nothing but amazing since I started using it in 2015. Big ups for its user interface and its ‘if this, then that’ based intuition.

Tools For Automation & Integration:

#10 – IFTTT.com

If This Then That (IFTTT) is a web-based platform that allows you to create chains of simple commands (known as “recipes”) that are triggered when a specific action is made on a social network (e.g. posting content to Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter etc).

Most seasoned Social Media Marketers leverage the power of IFTTT to automate all sorts of time consuming tasks such as:

  • auto-posting Instagram photos natively to Twitter (allowing you to actually see the Instagram photo natively on your Twitter feed with one click – as opposed to a nasty URL)
  • auto-archiving any of your social content in Dropbox folders for future ease of access
  • auto-syncing your Facebook Profile photo with your Twitter Profile photo whenever you update your photo

When time is arguably you’re most precious asset, IFTTT has got your back.

#11 – Zapier.com

While IFTTT is great for automating basic commands and tasks, it falls short for those needing a more robust solution for data automation and integration.

It’s all g though, because our friends over at Zapier have our backs.

Zapier allows all of my different tools to easily connect with one another. For example, whenever I sell an online course via Thinkific, Zapier automatically creates an invoice in my accounting software (Xero) based on the sale information processed by my payment gateway (Stripe). This saves me HOURS of mundane time and effort I’d need to allocate to manually enter in all of those invoices.

Zapier works with thousands of different apps, from Trello to Mailchimp to Dropbox to Paypal. And the best part is, you don’t need to know a single thing about coding to use this awesome tool!
